Getting music onto an iPod is quite easy. Getting that same music back off can be an exercise in frustration. Apple isn't exactly forthcoming with information about the technical side of their hardware. For iPod Classics, Nanos and Shuffles, the process of retrieving music is a bit convoluted. For the iPod Touch and the iPhone, the process doesn't exist. On the models for which it's possible, a fair amount of technical prowess is required.
