Use a mini Philips screwdriver to remove two screws from the bottom of the iPod where the headphone jack is located. One screw is located on a white piece next to the head phone jack and the other is located on a silver piece on the opposite end.
Remove the headphone jack by sticking a mini screwdriver down the side of the white plastic piece and prying it out. It will still be attached by a cord but will be removed from the rest of the iPod.
Put the mini Philips screwdriver into the hole where the headphone jack was located. Feel for a screw about half an inch down. Remove this screw.
The 2nd generation iPod nano was first sold in September 2006, but was replaced a year later by the 3rd generation nano.
