Turn on the computer.
Plug the iPod Touch cord into the device.
Connect the other end of the iPod Touch cord to a USB port on the computer.
Wait five seconds and press the "Home" button (the bottom button) in the iPod Touch. A green battery icon will appear on the iPod Touch screen. This icon will show you approximately how "charged" the iPod Touch battery is.
The battery life on the iPod Touch will decrease every time you use the device to listen to music, watch videos, browse the Internet and use applications (called "apps"). You may wish to know how much power the battery on the iPod Touch has left or you might want to make sure that the battery on the iPod Touch is charging properly. You can check the battery charge on your iPod Touch with the cord that came with the device by attempting to charge the battery as normal.
