Verify that the iPod is charged if it won't respond to you pushing its buttons. Connect the device to a USB port on your computer or to its AC charging cable to initiate the charging process. A green battery icon will appear on the iPod's screen. Disconnect the device only after the icon appears full. It takes approximately four hours to charge the 60GB model, according to Apple.
Make sure the iPod's hold switch isn't engaged if the iPod is charged but won't turn on. Slide the hold switch, located on the top of the 60GB model, away from the word "HOLD" so that the button no longer appears orange.
Reset the iPod if it's turned on but its screen is frozen. Push the hold switch toward its on position, then back off. Immediately press the "Menu" button while also holding down the center button in the middle of the scroll wheel. Release the buttons after eight seconds or when the Apple logo displays on the iPod's screen. The device is now reset.
Apple released its last 60GB iPod model in 2005 and 2006. The devices were popularly known as the 5th generation iPod Video. Though it's since been replaced with iPods hosting a larger capacity and more features, some people still use their 60GB iPod to enjoy their mobile music collection. The iPod may occasionally malfunction. Troubleshoot it to help fix common problems so you can get back to listening your favorite tunes.
