Once Your iPod Is in Rockbox, How Do You Get It to Original? - Shut down the iPod by holding the "Play" button until the screen goes blank.

Turn the device back on by pressing "Menu" and "Select" (the central button) simultaneously.
Immediately push the "Hold" slider on top of the iPod into the "on" position (indicated by a visible patch of color). The iPod will now load the original firmware.

Hold down "Menu" and "Select" again without engaging the "Hold" slider to return to Rockbox mode.

Rockbox is an open source alternative to the default software on many popular mp3 players, including some iPods. It allows a high level of customization, use of third-party themes and installation of games, including the classic first-person shooter, "Doom." The iPod's original firmware, however, remains available after Rockbox is installed. Alternatively, if you no longer wish to use Rockbox at all, it is a simple matter to remove it altogether, returning the iPod to its original state.
