Load the compact disc into the disc drive to the right of the keyboard and wait for iTunes to recognize the disc. An iTunes message box will appear, asking if you would like to import the CD into your iTunes library.
Click "Yes" on the dialog box. The import progress of each track will appear at the top of the iTunes window; a bell will chime when the import is complete.
Insert the larger end of the USB connection cable into the bottom of the iPod; insert the USB end into the USB port on the left side of the MacBook. iTunes will automatically recognize the device on the left side menu.
MP3 players are quickly making compact discs obsolete, but unlike the move from cassettes to CDs, you needn't re-purchase your music to change the format. iPod is an MP3 player created by Apple and is designed to work with Apple's iTunes software. Most Apple computers, including MacBook laptops, come pre-loaded with this software, which will recognize and import music CDs and allow you to transfer them to your iPod. While iPods come with varying storage capacities, depending on the model, most are capable of holding thousands of songs from your CD collection.
