Open My iPod on My Mac Desktop - Plug your iPod's charger cable into the bottom of the iPod and the other end into a USB port on your Mac. Note that the iPod shuffle goes upside down on its dock.

Wait a moment for the iPod to appear on the desktop. If it doesn't, unplug and reconnect the charger cable; sometimes it takes a couple of tries.
