Play iPod Files on Windows Media Player

Play iPod Files on Windows Media Player - Set your iPod in Disk Mode. You can turn this mode on from the iPod's options in iTunes when the iPod is connected to a computer, or manually. To manually set Disk Mode, switch the hold switch to the On position, and then off. Press the middle button and the "Menu" button until the Apple logo appears. Release the "Menu" button and hold the "Play" button, while keeping the middle button depressed. The iPod screen will confirm Disk Mode is enabled.

Connect the iPod to a Windows PC using the included USB connection/charging cable. The iPod should display a "Do Not Disconnect" message.
Open the Control Panel and choose the "Folder Options" icon. Depending on your version of Windows, you may need to select Classic View, or click on "Appearance" before selecting the icon.

Click the "View" tab and scroll down through the "Advanced Settings" section. Click the radio button labeled "Show Hidden Files, Folders and Drives." Click "Apply" to save the changes.

Open Windows Media Player and select "Open" from the file menu. If the File menu does not appear, press the "Alt" button to access it.

The iPod works with many different varieties of music files. By default, music transferred from iTunes will use the AAC format, but an iPod may have files using MP3, WAV or other formats. Windows Media Player can play these formats, but you must first access the files on your iPod, which may not be immediately available, since the iPod hard drive keeps music in a hidden folder.
