Convert Videos to iTunes Format to Play on an Apple iPod - Determine the file type of the videos you want to convert to iPod format. Check the file's extension (the letters after the "." in the file name, such as .avi, .mov, etc.). If you choose "Get Info" in iTunes while highlighting the file in question, you can view the file's path (location) and extension.
