Use an iPod As Removable Storage

Use an iPod As Removable Storage - Connect the iPod to the computer using its USB cable.

If the iTunes software did not automatically launch when you connected the iPod, start the program.
Click the icon representing the iPod on the left side of the iTunes window.

If you prefer to manually drag and drop media files onto the iPod icon to add new content to it, select the "Manually manage music and videos" option in the main iTunes window. If you add new content to the iPod by using iTunes' sync feature, select the "Enable disk use" option.

If you have an iPod shuffle or iPod nano, use the slider to set the amount of space the iPod should reserve for data storage.

Most iPod models are equipped with a generous amount of internal storage space, often much more than the average person needs to store his favorite music, photos and videos. With all that available space, the iPod can double as a removable storage device, also called an external hard drive, which lets the user carry important documents and files wherever she goes.
