Insert the USB end of the supplied cable to a high-speed USB port on your computer.
Open iTunes on your computer by double-clicking the desktop icon or selecting it from your computer's applications folder. If iTunes is set up as your computer's default music software, it might open automatically when you connect your iPod. An iPod icon will appear below the "Device" tab on the left side of iTunes when your iPod is connected to your computer.
Click "Music," which is located in the upper-left corner of iTunes below the "Library" option. This displays all the music that's stored in your computer's iTunes library.
You can take any music stored on your computer and add it to your iPod Nano --- whether that music has been downloaded from the iTunes Store, your personal CD collection or another music source --- as long as it's added through the iTunes software.
