Select "File" on the iTunes menu and select "Add File to Library" on your PC screen or "Add to Library" on the Macintosh screen. Locate the WMA file on your computer, and click the file once to highlight it.
Select the "Open" or "Add" button in the "Add to Library" window to import the WMA track to the Music section in your iTunes library.
Click "Edit" and "Preferences" on the iTunes menu on your PC, or click "iTunes" and "Preferences" at the top of the screen on your Macintosh computer.
Windows Media Audio files are not compatible for audio playback on the iPod as they are not included in the supported formats, which include MP3, M4A, M4P, AIFF and WAV. The iTunes program used to synchronize your music from your music library to your iPod is able to encode the WMA file to a compatible format, and is automatically changed when imported into your iTunes library. By default songs are encoded in iTunes to an AAC format, but you can also change the track to a different format once it is imported in iTunes by changing the import settings. The conversion may cause a slight loss of sound quality.
