Restart an iPod 5G

Restart an iPod 5G - Turn the "Hold" switch on the top of your 5G on and off several times. This is located on the top left of all 5th generation iPods.

Hold down the "Menu" and center buttons of the iPod's click wheel at the same time. After five or more seconds you'll see the Apple logo appear and you can release the buttons.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 several times if necessary. If you're still having trouble, make sure the iPod's on a flat surface.

Restarting your iPod 5G manually is sometimes necessary. This is most common when the device is frozen. If your iPod 5G keeps freezing frequently, you may need to restore it to factory settings, or take it to an Apple store for service. Never force-start your iPod 5G while it's connected via USB to your computer and says "Do not disconnect."
