Spot a Fake iPod Touch

Spot a Fake iPod Touch - Reboot the iPod Touch by holding down the "Sleep" button, located in the top right corner of the device. If your model does not have this button, it is not an iPod Touch. When the iPod restarts, you will immediately see the white Apple logo on a dark screen. If you see anything else, what you have is a fake.

Inspect the front and back of the device for telltale signs of a counterfeit product. An authentic device does not have the word "iPod" printed on the front; instead, it appears on the back, under the Apple logo, and the text is usually condensed at the bottom. If you see random text or logos elsewhere on the back of the iPod, it's probably a fake.
Beware of "extra" features that don't come with the iPod Touch, such as an e-book reader app or email. Apple requires you to purchase accessories to use Bluetooth for reading e-books and email.

Learning to spot counterfeit money involves studying real currency and getting to know it by sight and touch. The best way to spot a fake iPod Touch is to know what the real thing should look like. Fake iPods are sometimes obvious, but other times, you may be able to detect only subtle differences, so you must look carefully. If you are unsure, or if a deal seems too good to be true, pass on it and instead purchase from an authorized dealer to ensure that your iPod is covered by a valid warranty.
